Central Ohio bartender 1st woman to win Most Imaginative Bartender in North America
COLUMBUS, Ohio —
Annie Williams Pierce never intended to be a professional bartender.
At Loyola University Chicago, she studied politics. But when she moved back to Central Ohio, she temporarily took a job as server in the food industry. Then, she began bartending. After two months, she took part in a local drink-making contest, where she took third place.
That was 2011.
In 2017, Pierce was named the Most Imaginative Bartender in North America by the United States Bartenders’ Guild. She is the first woman to ever hold the title.
“To be the first female to win is pretty insane,” Pierce said. “I still get this huge grin to talking about it.”
