Going to the dentist could prevent a heart attack
February is a time of year where a lot of people start learning more about heart health.
There is a big connection between your heart and your dental health.
Dr. Barbara McClatchie, D.D.S. in Worthington, does a specific saliva test in her office to test for the 5 bacteria that can cause heart attacks and strokes.
She then works with a cardiologist to create a personalized treatment plan for patients.
Dr. McClatchie stopped by Good Day Columbus to share how people should take care of their teeth so they can prevent heart problems.
Dr. McClatchie and her husband, Dr. Eric Goulder, a cardiologist, are opening the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center of Central Ohio in the summer of 2017 in Worthington.
