12 people shot, one killed in Columbus in 24-hour span
Columbus police are investigating after 12 people were shot, including one man killed, in a 24-hour span this weekend.
The 911 calls started coming in around 3 a.m. Easter Sunday from South Linden after police said a fight broke out inside "J&R's Party Hall" where a gunman shot nine people during an after-hours party.
Police said all victims will be okay and many are not cooperating as the gunman got away.
Early Monday, police were called to the west side for more gunfire. During a possible robbery outside of the apartments on Wedgewood Drive, police said someone shot three people inside an SUV.
A man died, while two others suffered critical injuries.
Due to frequent crime in that area, police said they do work special duty at that apartment complex, but none were working early Monday.
Signs on property also indicated the area is monitored by surveillance video.
At the South Linden party hall, owners said they do not require security while renting it out for different events, including parties.
They said they will review their contract with future clients in hopes of avoiding similar violence in the future.
