Three killed, 1 injured in early morning west Columbus house fire

Firefighters confirmed that three people were killed in a house fire in west Columbus early Friday morning.

Columbus Fire said a grandmother, mother and daughter died after a house fire on Cherry Creek Pkwy near Norton Rd and Hall Rd.

Authorities said the 16-year-old died after being rushed to Doctors West and the mother passed at Mt. Carmel hospital.

The 16-year-old was later identified as Abbey Dickerson, a student at South-Western City Schools. She was in the 10th grade. The crisis team will be on hand to talk with students. Friday was the last day of school before spring break.

One family member was able to get out of the home themselves.

Columbus Fire added a father, who was in the home, was in serious condition at Mt. Carmel.

ABC 6/FOX 28 was working to confirm more information about what started the fire.

The fire chief said there was a lot of stuff in the home that made it difficult for firefighters to operate.
