Circleville police investigating reports of man impersonating an officer

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- Authorities in Circleville and Ross County are alerting the public to a string of incidents where a civilian has impersonated an officer over the past week.

All the incidents involved a white male, driving a dark-colored sedan. In two of the occurrences the person confronted and berated drivers for speeding as he wore what looked to be a police uniform with a badge. The third instance involved a man illegally searching a woman's car, taking money from her, and leaving her the business card of a Circleville police officer.

The accusations of speeding happened on Pontius Lane in Circleville on Monday and an undisclosed location Wednesday, respectively.

The reported theft happened in Circleville on Friday.
