City shuts down west Columbus drug house
The city shut down a drug house on Whitethorne Avenue Friday.
City officials said the house is known for drug trafficking, prostitution, deadly weapons and drugs.
The house is located less than a half-mile from Highland Elementary School and the J. Ashburn Jr. Youth Center.
The city began investigating the property toward the end of 2016. Police sent a certified letter to the owner back in a January. The letter notified the owner about the nuisance criminal activity happening at the property. City officials said the owner signed a mail receipt but the illegal activities continued.
Police raided the property and found 28 grams of crack-cocaine, 20 grams of marijuana, pills, lots of cash and several weapons.
The property is vacant and boarded up.
