Columbus teen killed in northern Ohio crash
ELYRIA, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) —
A Columbus teen was killed in a northern Ohio crash Sunday afternoon.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Kiara Stowers was killed after she was involved in a crash at the intersection of SR-511 and SR-18 in Lorain County.
OSHP said the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. when a car, driven by 19-year-old Elijah Ross of Pickerington, crashed into a truck. According to OSHP, Ross did not sustain any injuries, but his passenger, Stowers, died as a result of the crash.
The driver of the truck was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash. Safety restraints were used by all occupants of the vehicles.
The crash remained under investigation.
