Murder investigation underway after body found in North Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) —
An investigation is underway into the what caused a person to die in North Columbus early Friday morning.
Police were called out to the area of Cleveland Avenue and Agler Road around 1 a.m. on a report of a dead body.
The victim was later identified as 61-year-old James Virgil Johnson. He was pronounced dead at 1:21 a.m.
Homicide detectives were called out to the scene after trauma was identified on the body.
Police said a key for a nearby van was found next to the body. The van was impounded for further investigation. Visible damage was seen on the van.
Officers continued to canvas the area for more clues.
This was the 136th murder in Columbus this year.
