More than one hundred family, friends, co-workers and congregation members gathered at the Vineyard Christian Church in Pataskala to honor the life of 48-year-old Cindy Krantz Wednesday evening.

Krantz, a nurse's aide at the Pine Kirk Care Center in Kirkersville, was one of three people fatally shot last Friday morning.

Loved ones said the mother of five, and grandmother, ran to help those inside the facility before she died.

"I want people to remember her in her last moments, protecting the patients, because she was a care giver," said her son, Matt Burnett.

Matt added his mom spent her life helping others. She worked in child care for a decade before joining Pine Kirk.

"She cared for people that I could not,. She often undertook things in life that I couldn't" said Chris Krantz, her husband.

She loved gardening and yard sales, and had a wicked sense of humor.

"She would always tell you something raunchy, but super funny, to help lighten the mood, to help you get through the day," said Cindy's daughter, Allison Burnett.

Cindy's family said they've been overwhelmed with love and support from the community since the tragedy happened.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Cindy to the Vineyard Christian Church in Pataskala.
