Police: Golsby admitted to leaving Tokes naked at park
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) - The trial of accused killer Brian Golsby continued Thursday.
Prosecutors told jurors that Golsby continued to change his story for hours. Detectives said he was very concerned about the evidence they had at the time of his arrest.
The lead detective in this case from Grove City Police took the stand Thursday morning. That's when prosecutors showed pictures of OSU senior Reagan Tokes leaving her work at the Bodega cafe in the Short North around 9:43 p.m. on February 8 last year.
Prosecutors also showed images of Brian Golsby at a speedway gas station buying a gas can nearly three hours later. Between those times, prosecutors said Golsby robbed, raped and killed Tokes, leaving her body at Scioto Grove Metro Park and stealing her car.
Police arrested Golsby a day later and questioned him for six hours straight. He said he took the bus downtown and started walking to the Short North.
GCPD Det. Richard Fornrey said, "We asked if he had permission to go inside the victim's car. He said no."
Golsby continued to ask for a cigarette in exchange for information during this interview. They said he finally confessed to leaving Tokes naked at the park.
There will be no court for the Golsby case on Friday, the case will resume in court on Monday.
WSYX/WTTE will continue to follow this ongoing case.
