Police: Kettering mom removes infant daughter's feeding tubes, takes her from hospital
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A Kettering woman has been arrested on child endangering charges after police say she removed her 3-month-old daughter's feeding tubes and took her from Dayton Children's Hospital.
Hospital staff called police on Thursday, November 16, saying the baby's mother, Michele Hughes, 35, had removed the baby from her room. According to a police report, the staff told officers they were worried for the baby's safety because she weighed just 8 pounds and was severely dehydrated and malnourished.
Police found Hughes and her daughter parked in the driveway of their Kettering home. The baby was taken back to Dayton Children's Hospital and her mother was taken to jail.
