COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- The status of Crew SC staying in Columbus is unclear, however opinions on a stadium are getting strong reactions in the two cities vying for the club.

Recently, the Austin City Council released several possible locations for a downtown stadium. CBS Austin talked with residents who live near one of the proposed sites.

"The idea of a stadium with 20,000 seats and no parking just makes me nuts,” said Dr. Kathleen Adams.

In Columbus, city leaders have proposed possible locations to keep Crew SC from leaving. One of those locations is Dodge Park. Longtime resident Roger Dale likes the idea of a stadium.

"I think a Crew stadium would be real good here. We have a baseball right up the street there at Glenwood and Mound Streets, been there for years and years all thought it's closed up. Something needs to come and help us grow and help us prosper in good labor,” said Adams.

Dave Greeley, president of Precourt Sports Ventures, is quoted in Austin area news publication “Hill Country News” with positive comments on the Texas city, "The possibilities in Austin are strong and we're super bullish on Austin and quite frankly that bullishness gets us through the highs and lows.”

ABC 6/FOX 28 contacted Crew SC officials about the comment. A team spokesperson referred to a statement from December 7th, "we remain committed to exploring strategic options as we have communicated, which can include meaningful and constructive dialogue with Columbus leaders."

"It's frustrating to see Precourt Sports Ventures go all in on Austin and then say that 'oh we'll stay in Columbus should the right circumstances arise,” said Morgan Hughes with "Save The Crew."

"Save The Crew" has been a vocal opponent of the team leaving Columbus. Hughes vows the fight to keep Crew SC in Columbus continues.

"We're not done yet. This is not over and we're trying to tell everybody we know.”
