Teacher, coach at Hamilton HS charged with having sexual relationship with student
BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - A teacher and coach at a local high school faces charges on Tuesday night after allegations of a sexual relationship with a student.
Hamilton High School teacher Hilary Dattilo is on leave after appearing in court Tuesday morning. Dattilo found herself standing before a judge, charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a female student.
Hilary Datillo was Hamilton's head girl’s junior varsity volleyball coach and an assistant to the girls’ varsity team.
Hamilton Police say a parent became concerned about her daughter's relationship with Datillo.
The result of the investigation were charges of sexual battery, which is a third-degree felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, which is a misdemeanor.
Datillo was booked following a direct indictment by a Butler County grand jury.
On Tuesday, the Hamilton School District released the following statement: “Parents entrust their children to us every day, which is something we take very seriously. The safety of children is always our priority."
The statement went on to say that the district had placed Datillo on administrative leave pending termination proceedings.
It concluded saying: “We will not tolerate behavior that places our children in jeopardy.”
As of right now, police have no reason there are no other victims
During her arraignment on Tuesday, a Butler County judge set bond at $5,000. Datillo posted bond and was released from jail.
Hamilton Police stress that none of the alleged inappropriate behavior took place on school grounds.
Dattilo is due to return to court next month.
