Suspect wanted for shooting that injured girlfriend, killed her father

Columbus police are investigating a shooting that left one dead and one person injured in northeast Columbus Sunday morning.

According to Columbus Division of Police, the call came in 10:54 a.m. on a report of a shooting in the 2400 block of Ottawa Drive.

Officials say 54-year-old Van Johnson was taken to Riverside Hospital in critical condition where he later died from his injuries. Johnson's 18-year-old daughter, Elyzabeth, was taken to Grant Medical Center is in stable condition.

Police say 18-year-old Jordyn Preston intervened during an argument between the Johnsons and opened fired, accidentally hitting Elyzabeth, his girlfriend. He's approximately 5'10" weighing around 155 pounds and was last seen driving a white or silver Ford Mustang. He's considered armed and dangerous.

Police will file murder charges against Preston.

It's the city's 128th homicide of 2017.
