Wisconsin man charged and arrested for kidnapping 12-year-old in Newark
NEWARK, Ohio —
Newark police have arrested Wisconsin man who is accused of kidnapping a 12-year-old girl from Newark Monday afternoon.
According to the Newark Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of W. Main Street on the report of a missing 12-year-old girl, who had left her residence between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to go on a bike ride but never returned home.
Police say with the assistance of family, they were able to determine that the girl had established an online relationship with an older man named Christopher J. Forncrook, 40, from Wisconsin, and were planning to meet in Newark.
According to detectives Forncrook left his Wisconsin home early Monday morning to check in to a hotel in Dublin that same day.
At 10:30 p.m. the 12-year-old girl returned home and was evaluated by medical staff and interviewed by the Licking County Kids Team.
Around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning detectives from Newark Division of Police, with the help of Dublin police took Forncrook into custody without incident.
Forncrook was taken to Licking County Justice Center on charges of kidnapping and gross sexual imposition, he is scheduled to appear before on a judge on Wednesday.
More charges are expected to come.
