Person dead, 3 firefighters injured after head-on collision in Texas

HUNT COUNTY, TX (WSYX/WTTE) -- Authorities are investigating a head-on crash between a car and fire truck northeast of Dallas on Thursday.

Officials told KTVT that a fire truck was responding to an early morning call when an oncoming car crossed the center lane and hit the fire truck in Cash, approximately 50 miles northeast of Dallas.

The fire truck overturned and the other vehicle burst into flames.

The car's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two of the firefighters were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening in injuries. A third firefighter was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The highway was shut down for several hours while crews investigated and cleared the wreck.
