Lucky dog survives after being hit by trains -- 13 times!
BOISE, Idaho —
An incredible 'tail' of survival in Idaho. A family's dog is still alive after being hit by a train 13 times!
Loki hobbles well on his three legs; quite stable for a dog who was hit a week ago.
Loki's owner Ryan Rossi said, "He's slowly going back to his self. He gets around and plays with our other dog."
Rossi says the family's pit bull-American bulldog mix wandered off last Wednesday - only to be hit by a train. And then another. Then another.
Rossi said, "Thirteen trains ran over him."
On that last train, a conductor finally noticed the 14-month-old puppy hurt on the tracks and called for help.
Loki was identified through his microchip. A local vet told the Rossis that Loki had lost his leg, an eye and his tail.
Despite that, "He was walking the day after we brought him home," Rossi said.
That was Saturday. Ever since, Loki continues to be on the mend.
The Rossi's, who initially worried that they'd have to put him down, are not wondering if perhaps Loki should be called 'Lucky.'
Rossi said, "Words cannot describe it whatsoever. Like I said, he's not just a dog, he's family."
The Rossi family is faced with more than $7,000 in veterinarian bills. Anyone who'd like to help is asked to check out Loki's GoFundMe page -- https://www.gofundme.com/s4pn5sav.
