CRIME HOT SPOTS: SE Columbus Playground Equipment Stolem

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 11:42 PM EDT
COLUMBUS (Steve Levine) -- Children in a Southeast Side neighborhood are losing out on playground fun because of a recent visit by thieves.

ABC 6/FOX 28 uncovered a Fighting Back Crime Hot Spot where crooks stole a slide Monday that was connected to a city-owned playground behind the former Reeb Elementary School at E. Innis and S. Washington Avenues.

“It’s really bad, I think it’s horrible, that nobody thinks about the kids,” neighbor Richard Schete said.

Thieves were prepared when they arrived at the playground; they needed a specific wrench to remove the tamper proof bolts from the equipment.

“You can’t put a price on your childhood," Richard said. For them to do that to get a few dollars, is really horrible for the neighborhood."

If you have any information about the stolen slide, call Columbus Police at 614-645-4545.CRIME HOT SPOTS: SE Columbus Playground Equipment Stolem
