CRIME OF THE WEEK: Man Suspected in Robbery Spree Hits Whitehall UDF

Updated: Sunday, November 24 2013, 10:19 AM EST
WHITEHALL (Camille Doty) -- A man targets a United Dairy Farmers on the 4800 block of East Main Street.  Police believe he could be involved with a string of robberies across Central Ohio.

On October 14, police say the suspect pulled out a gun, demanded money and ran towards the back of the store.

Police detect he’s potentially targeting chains in the city’s outer belt for a quick escape.   Several marts have been hit in Bexley, Briggs, Grove City and Pickaway County in one month.

The thief carries a gun, but investigators don't know if he's actually fired his weapon during the robberies.

Detectives say most clerks will surrender the money without resistance. They fear the alleged spree could take a violent turn if someone puts up a fight.

"If he begins to hit the privately-owned convenient stores, then there is a likelihood he's going to get some push back from the robbery,” says Detective Gerald Milner.

Police describe the suspect as a man in his early-to-mid 20’s, who is close to 6 feet tall.

He wears a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with white strings, and a dark-colored hat. The suspect also has a ring on his finger.
