6 ON YOUR SIDE: Mailman Gets ID Fixed

Updated: Thursday, February 28 2013, 12:47 PM EST
PERRY COUNTY — A Perry County mailman who needed to get his driver’s license renewed called on ABC6 On Your Side for help
when he was told it was blocked because of two unpaid tickets in Illinois - one from 1983 one from 1984.

Terry L. Lynn has never been in Illinois and he didn’t get the tickets, but he needed to prove the tickets weren’t his by Thursday the 28th of February.

That’s his birthday and the day his driver’s license expires

Illinois Bureau of Motor Vehicles was able to determine that he is not the man with the tickets.

That man is Terry L Flynn with an “F” before Lynn.  Both men have the same date of birth!
The BMV told Lynn it would take a week to help him but he needed help now-so he’d be able to continue driving his mail truck.

ABC6 ON Your Side reached the Illinois Secretary of State’s office, and they faxed Terry Lynn a letter this morning.

It proves he is Lynn not Flynn, and Lynn took the letter to his BMV.

The clerk called Illinois, faxed them the letter, and Terry Lynn finally got his driver’s license.

Lynn says he’s grateful to Six On Your Side for helping him get his license-with one day to spare!
