COLUMBUS – A Linden church has become a constant target for copper thieves.
Crooks have been stealing gutters & trim from the First Church of Christ, 1191 Oakland Park Avenue, for the past several months.
The most recent break-in happened earlier this week when thugs cut holes though a chain link fence, twice within 48 hours.
“We’ve tried to patch the holes, they are cutting through to fast,” said Lanardo Butler, Church Administrator, “we can’t keep up with the patching”.
Early Saturday morning, thieves ripped gutters and trim from the top of the roof, they returned Monday morning and walked off with an additional $6,000 worth of copper.
“You are talking tens of thousands of dollars to replace all of this, it’s not easy to come by,” said Butler.
