COLUMBUS (Kellie Hanna) -- A fire in a home at 1646 Kent Street which is between Fairwood and Seymour avenues in East Columbus was started about 5:20 a.m. but was quickly contained.
Columbus firefighters saw tons of smoke billowing from the home when they arrived on the scene.
All three adults who were in the home at the time of the fire got out without being injured and were across the street at the time of the fire.
However, the family dog died in the fire.
Crews say it looks like the fire started in the back of the home on the first floor in the living room area.
There is extensive smoke damage throughout the home and Red Cross is on the way to help the family.
Arson investigators are looking for a cause of this fire.
