COLUMBUS -- More safety cameras are coming to Columbus city streets.
City Council Monday night approved spending nearly two million dollars to install an additional 100 security cameras in selected city neighborhoods.
Mohammad Ansar who owns The Food Mart on Main Street says the neighborhood has been waiting for the cameras since the city began installing them a few years ago.
“We want to have the cameras out there, if we have anything going on,” said Mohammad.
More than 150 safety cameras are currently in use across Columbus.
City Public Safety Officials say it could be several months before they determine the exact locations for the newly approved cameras.
