Paper Warehouse Burns in Ross County

Updated: Thursday, April 4 2013, 08:45 AM EDT
(UPDATE: 4/3/13 at 11:50 p.m.)  One firefighter suffered minor injuries battling the blaze just outside of Chillicothe.

A fire chief said the fellow fireman was exposed to excessive heat and smoke.  He was transported to an area hospital, and is expected to be okay.

The cause of the fire isn't known, but investigators will be going through the rubble once the fire is out, which was still burning as of midnight Thursday.

ROSS COUNTY -- Fire fighters resorted to transporting water via tanker trucks to battle a blaze at a paper storage facility on Wednesday.

Officials say the Mead warehouse on Lancaster Road was engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived on the scene. Efforts to extinguish the blaze were complicated by lack of nearby hydrants, forcing fire fighters to use tanker trucks to fill pools, which were then fitted with hoses.

The fire was still burning as of Wednesday evening, but an official told ABC 6/FOX 28 the blaze is under control.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire.
