HILLIARD -- Police are trying to figure out who was behind the wheel of a car speeding down Hilliard-Rome Road more than 100 miles an hour.
An officer tried to chase after the car that sped by early on St. Patrick's Day, but was unable to catch up.
Police gave up the chase but eventually found the car parked in a nearby neighborhood. The car was smoking.
The people that live in the house where the car was parked didn't recognize it. Police were able to track down the owner of the car, but he said he was asleep. The owner's parents said they hadn't seen their son in a few hours.
A search warrant said the owner of the car became belligerent when police questioned him.
Police are now combing through cell phone records to figure out who's telling the truth, and who was behind the wheel.
