Soldier's Return Home Scores Points

Updated: Friday, April 5 2013, 11:18 PM EDT
COLUMBUS -- When Kyle Shannon stepped off the plane, he was greeted by family and friends. A warm welcome for a soldier who's spent the last year deployed in Germany and Northern Afghanistan.

Here's where things get different than any other "welcome home" party:

"We're going to Chuck E. Cheese's!" Mother, Ambre Shannon yelled as she hugged her son.

The land of arcade games, pizza and a dancing animatronic mouse is the go-to "welcome home" party place for this central Ohio military family, including Kyle's brother Brandon who is in the marines.

They both have a sister, 5, Alexcia.

"The last thing Kyle said," Ambre explained, "'(Alexcia) is going to be five when I return. Is she going to forget me?' No, he's her hero and she's counted down every day all year."

Alexcia's favorite restaurant is Chuck E. Cheese and for Army Sgt. Kyle Shannon, a return home isn't complete without seeing the smiling face of his little sister.
