FRANKLIN (WKEF) -- An Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper suffers serious head trauma after being hit by another car while investigating a crash.
It happened around 11:30 Wednesday night on I-75 North in the Franklin area. Two troopers were investigating a one-car crash. They suspected the driver of that car was drinking. One of the troopers got out of the cruiser and was hit by a car traveling Northbound. That car also hit the cruiser and car police were originally investigating.
Police say the road was partially covered with snow at the time. They are not ruling out weather as a possible cause for the crash.
The trooper was taken to Atrium Medical Center. He has since been taken to Miami Valley Hospital where he is in critical condition. The trooper just graduated from the academy on February 8th. He was still in training.
Right now, police are questioning the driver of the car that hit the trooper. They say he is not under arrest at this time.
