Buckeye Basketball: Suspended freshman dismissed from team, another granted his release
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Weeks after he was suspended from the OSU men's basketball team, redshirt freshman Derek Funderburk has been dismissed.
Funderburk failed to meet team expectations, according to a news release by the program. The Lakewood, Ohio, native played his senior year of high school at Hargrave Military Academy.
Freshman Braxton Beverly, is also no longer with the team after he asked for and was granted his release by first-year head coach Chris Holtmann, The point guard recruit from Hazard, Kentucky, also spent his senior year of high school at Hargrave Military Academy.
