COLUMBUS -- The Columbus Clippers saved the best for last, scoring single runs in the eighth and ninth innings to beat Indianapolis, 2-1 Sunday and take over sole possession of the Western Division lead headed into the All-Star break.

Michael Choice lifted a well-struck single over the head of the Indians centerfielder to plate Erik Gonzalez and clinch the one-run win at home.

The Clippers are 49-43 at the halfway point with Shawn Armstrong, Erik Gonzalez, and Mike Clevinger part of the International league All-Star squad of 30 IL standouts. The I-L team will be led by Clippers manager Chris Tremie, that will take on the Pacific Coast League's best in the 29th Annual Sonic Automotive Triple-A All-Star Game, presented by Gildan, on July 13 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
