COLUMBUS -- Sunday's home game against Illinois coincided with Captains Weekend for the Basketball Bucks.

Those captains, notably the program's top scorer, Dennis Hopson and broadcaster Clark Kellogg certainly were high on new head coach Chris Holtmann.

Hopson observed, "when you have 12 or 13 ego's like you have at Ohio State you have to get everyone on the same page." The Buckeyes are 20-5 overall and 11-1 in the Big 10 prior to Wednesday's road game at league-leading and 3rd ranked Purdue.

Kellogg said he was familiar with Holtmann, who recruited his son Nick to Ohio University back in 2009. "I was aware of his integrity and leadership....it's been heartening to see how well he's adjusted to the players and they to him."

The Buckeyes climbed to 14th in the latest AP Top 25.
