With two big announcements this week on the Major League Soccer front, you might think fans of Columbus Crew SC may be resigning themselves to defeat. Not so. In fact they remain as optimistic as ever.

"There's an optimism," said Tobias Roediger with 'Save theCrew.' "In fact, I've never been more optimistic the team is staying."

Monday, MLS granted an expansion team to Cincinnati, stoking fears that the team may be a consolation prize for Ohio, in exchange for moving the Crew SC to Austin, Texas.

But 'Save the Crew' backers insist two Ohio teams would create an instant rivalry that would be good for the league.

Thursday, Crew ownership revealed drawings for a new stadium in Austin.

But Crew supporters call that a smokescrean, saying the owner is trying to make the team look more attractive to a buyer.

"If they don't create something that looks like value in Austin, they have no bargaining power here," said Roediger.
