Reports: Former Buckeye Raekwon McMillan tears ACL in preseason opener
COLUMBUS (WSYX/WTTE) —
Former Ohio State linebacker Raekwon McMillan, the Miami Dolphins' second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, left last night's Dolphins preseason game with a knee injury that is believed to be serious.
McMillan, a starter and defensive leader his last two seasons at Ohio State, knocked knees with teammate Deon Lacey on special teams in the first quarter of Thursday's game with the NFC champion Atlanta Falcons. He had been slated to start at middle linebacker for the Dolphins, who made the playoffs in 2016.
Pro Football Talk said the Dolphins and McMillan are still waiting to see the MRI being done on the linebacker's knee before making a final call on his rookie season. If McMillan's ACL is torn and he needs surgery, he is expected to not play again until the 2018 season.
