Second victim identified in deadly Hilltop shooting

Columbus police have identified the second victim in a shooting that killed two people in the Hilltop Monday.

Police said 33-year-old Severen T. Clayborn was killed after stray bullets hit him while he was likely sleeping inside his home.

The shootings happened around 9:30 a.m. When officers arrived on scene they found 17-year-old Quentin William Smith in an alley behind a home in the 100 block of South Wayne Avenue. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was rushed to Mount Carmel West Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 11:07 a.m.

Police said Clayborn was found around 12:42 p.m. when investigators noticed several bullet holes on the outside of his home. They said they knocked on the door, but there was no answer. Police then broke down the door and found Clayborn dead.

Investigators say there were at least two suspects who have yet to be identified.

These were the 124th and 125th murders in Columbus this calendar year.
