Two Women Report Blow Dart Assaults
NEWARK (Adam Aaro) -- Police are searching for whoever shot blow darts at two women over the weekend, striking one of them in the leg.
The two attacks happened within hours of each other on Sunday night. The first happened near the corner of 30th Street North and Main Street West. Police say someone shot the dart from a dark colored car. In this case, it missed the woman, hitting her umbrella instead.
But then an hour later, and a few miles away on Isabelle Road, Charles Hathaway and his wife were going for their evening walk, when she jumped suddenly and screamed in pain.
"She pulled out this dart," Hathaway told us. "It was about four inches long and stuck right in her leg."
Hathaway says they too saw a dark-colored car driving past when the attack happened, but couldn't get a good look at it. He says his wife is staying strong, but dealing with a lot of pain.
"She can hardly walk, it's so sore," Hathaway said. "I mean the bruise is so big. And thank God it didn't hit something serious like an artery, the throat or her eye."
Hathaway has a message to the people responsible.
"I feel sorry for you, I really do," Hathaway said. "I just hope you get your issues worked out where you don't feel like you have to inflict pain on somebody else."
So far police have no suspects so if you have any information about what happened, you're asked to call Newark Police.
