Marion Neighborhood Fights Back

MARION (Adam Aaro) -- A Marion neighborhood is fed up with bad things happening at an apartment complex nearby and are fighting back hoping to see change happen.

The cluster of apartments is located along the 300 block of East Church Street near downtown. One neighbor even went so far as to post a sign in front of the property reading, "Heroin is Sold Here." A picture of the sign was then posted on the Facebook page "Marion's Original News" and immediately gathered dozens of comments and "likes".

Several other neighbors also described the property as problematic. One told us they see, "Arguments, fights, peeling out cars, you name it, it's there."

Marion Police say there have been 28 calls for service around the apartments just this year for issues ranging from drugs to domestic disputes. There were also calls for drugs and assault. Police say that is an abnormally high number of calls.

A few people who lived in the apartments told us the issues there are being overblown and drugs are not a problem there. But they do admit there are fights and other disturbances that happen there.

We were unable to reach the landlord of the property for comment.
