Drop in Racino Revenue Not Worrying Scioto Downs Managers

COLUMBUS (Tom Bosco/Ken Hines) -- Gambling revenue is down at Scioto Downs's so-called Racino, but the start of horse racing season means the facility's operators aren't worried about the bottom line.

Seemingly unfazed by a 10 percent drop in gaming revenue, managers and trainers told ABC 6/FOX 28 the Racino's video and lottery terminals will provide a boost to the amount of gambling dollars spent on horse races as the season gets underway at Scioto Downs.

Managers said revenue from the video slots enabled them to renovate the facility's grandstand and increase the purses offered for horse races. They believe the extra cash will also bring better horses to the track, which will improve the product for fans.
