Franklin County Deputy Tased Suspect

COLUMBUS (Kellie Hanna) -- A Franklin County Sheriff's Deputy had to use his taser after trying to pull over an SUV.

A license plate reader on the sheriff's cruiser discovered that the owner of the SUV had an outstanding drug arrest warrant.

This all started about 3 a.m. at the Turkey Hill gas station at S. High Street and Obetz Road.

The deputy tried to arrest that driver but he took off all while he was throwing money and drugs away as he ran.

That deputy called for backup and ended up having to tase the suspect.

He was taken to Grant Medical Center to be checked out; the deputy was not injured.

It turns out the person driving the vehicle is not the same person who had the warrant out for his arrest.

The search for that man continues.
