Burglars Strike Through Screen Windows
COLUMBUS (Shawn Kline) -- Police are investigating several burglaries that have taken place near the Ohio State campus over the last week.
Each crime has taken place off campus but follows a similar pattern: the criminals are cutting through screen windows to gain access to homes in the middle of the night while those who live in the homes are sleeping.
"They took my TV, I had a Playstation there, they emptied out my drawer which was filled with DVDs, video games, Blu-Rays," Roger Faubel said.
Faubel is one of at least four to be hit by these screen-window bandits.
"It's a pretty small window," he said. "Obviously, it's someone a little smaller in size."
The thieves often gain access through small windows or small tears in a screen. Once inside, electronics, cash, movies, and games are often reported missing.
In just the past week, four homes were burglarized along Indianola Avenue, Hamlet Street and Highland Street south and southeast of the Ohio State campus.
According to police reports, one person caught the burglars in action but they escaped before police arrived.
