2 Killed in I-70 Semi Crash in Prarie Twp.

FRANKLIN COUNTY (Ken Hines) -- Two people were killed and three others were hurt when a semi truck slammed into multiple vehicles on Wednesday morning in Prarie Township.

Diana Schwab, 71, of Beavercreek, and Robin Jones, 48, of London, were killed when their cars were struck by a semi on I-70 EB, east of Alton and Darby Creek Roads at approximately 9:08 a.m.

The truck's driver, Tony Smith, struck four vehicles -- including another semi -- after failing to adjust his speed when traffic slowed, according to investigators.

Smith and two others, were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash forced the closure of I-70 EB in the area for approximately 3 hours as crews contained a fuel spill and worked to remove damaged vehicles from the road.

The crash is currently under investigation.
