Firefighters Battle Sweltering Heat While Saving Burning Building

COLUMBUS (Tara Morgan) -- Fire crews battled the sweltering heat while working to save a building from burning to the ground on the west side of the city.

The fire started on the front corner of a welding and metal shop at a commercial building on Krieger Court off Georgesville Road in west Columbus.

A second alarm was called because of the size of the building and the heat.

"Instantly it doesn't take any time at all for a person to overheat," Capt. Arnold Murdock.

Box 15 rehab group brought out cold bottled water and wet towels to provide some relief to the firefighters.

"We went through about six cases of water," said Brett Barber with Box 15 Club.

No one was hurt in the fire.  The cause remains under investigation.
