3 YO Home After Friday's Shooting

COLUMBUS (Dana Jay/Kellie Hanna) — The 3-year-old shot Friday night in the 2700 block of Palmetto Street has been released from the hospital.

The girl played on her grandmother’s porch Sunday with her sister.

It’s the spot where she was struck by a bullet around 8:45 Friday night.

The family had no idea at the time where the gun fire came from.

“Next thing I know, Dioni’s (the little girl) running up to me and her head is bleeding and I didn’t know what was happening,” said the girl’s mother, Dymond Branch.

Police say they were able to determine that the child’s injuries were caused by a bullet out of a shooting around the corner.

They executed a search warrant at 187 South Hague to find any information or clues to what led up to the shooting.

Columbus police detectives say they have a person of interest in custody, but the name will not be released until charges are filed.
