Robbery at Thornton's Gas Station

COLUMBUS (Kellie Hanna) Police detectives are on the scene of a robbery at a Thornton`s Gas Station at Alum Creek Drive and Williams Road. 

The suspect went into the gas station, picked up an alcoholic beverage and took it to the counter about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

When the clerk asked for identification, he put a bag on the counter and demands all of the money from the register.

The clerk said, "Are you serious?"  The suspect replied, "you don't want me to pull my gun."

The clerk complied and put all the money in the bag. 

The suspect got away in a silver/gray vehicle and was seen on Alum Creek Drive.

The clerk was not injured and were able to give police a good description of the robber.

Police say after reviewing surveillance video in the store, they say they do have good pictures of the suspect.

He's described as a black male, about 5'8" tall, wearing a white shirt, dark jeans and a knitted cap with a bill.

Columbus police's crime scene investigation unit is now on the scene and are gathering any evidence that might have been left behind during the robbery.
