Effort to Remove Peacocks Some Call a Nuisance

DUBLIN (Tara Morgan) -- Some call them beautiful creatures while others think a half dozen peacocks are a nuisance in one community.

Now there's an effort to remove the majestic birds after several complaints.

Diana Jenne says the birds live on fenced in property of Amlin Self Storage off Rings Road in Dublin.

But the birds fly over the fence to neighboring homes and walk on cars.

Jenne says the peacocks are like family and doesn't want to see them go but had no choice.

"Their talons are big and thick and sharp. You don't want a lawsuit from anyone scratching them on top stuff like that," said Jenne who runs the storage facility and cares for the birds.

Sunrise Sanctuary in Marysville wants to take in the peacocks but the challenge is catching them safely.

Jenne says a woman who specializes in that is supposed to scout out the area and the birds before removing them from the property.
