COTA Participates in National Dump the Pump Day
COLUMBUS (Dominique Mondon) -- The Central Ohio Transit Authority joined other public transit systems nationwide today to participate in the 8th annual “National Dump the Pump Day”.
The event, sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association, encourages people to save money and help the environment by utilizing public transportation.
COTA’s president and, CEO W. Curtis, Stitt says, “For one gallon of gas, you can get everywhere you want to go on COTA.”
COTA’s Park and Ride program allows people to leave their cars at a central location and ride the bus to their destination. There are 28 Park and Ride locations throughout Columbus.
Combining biking with bus riding is another way to save at the pump. COTA buses are designed to securely accommodate most types of bikes. The service is free to use.
With gas prices surging, many Columbus residents are looking for ways to save a little cash. According to the APTA, a family of two can save almost $10,000 a year by downsizing to one car.
