Gay Bar Hiring Extra Security for Pride Weekend
COLUMBUS (Tara Morgan) -- Owners of gay bars in Columbus are hiring extra security for Pride weekend.
The increased security comes after several gay men were attacked just days apart in Columbus earlier this month.
Rob Wagner, who owns Exile, says he doesn't want to take any chances.
He says he's got security lined up to watch his parking lot, the front door and even chaperones for people who don't want to walk to their cars alone.
"I just want to make everybody feel safe I want it to be a good weekend I want everybody to have fun and not be concerned about what could potentially happen to them," said Wagner.
Columbus police say there's no indication of anything out of the ordinary being planned, but they do have an incident action plan in place like for all events that draw huge crowds.
Organizations like BRAVO, The Buckeye Regional Anti-Violence Organization, says it has been in close contact with other bar owners and police.
