Lawmakers Pass New Ohio State Budget
COLUMBUS (Chelsea Spears) -- After four months of debate, Ohio lawmakers are ready to send a $62 billion, two-year budget to Governor John Kasich for his approval.
The budget would cut state income taxes by 10 percent, but increase the state sales tax to 5.75 percent. Tax cuts would reach $2.7 billion in total.
The bill passed Thursday in both of the Republican-controlled chambers.
Regardless with the recent vote, the Ohio budget debate continues. Some lawmakers are complaining that the budget does not include state spending policy measures.
