Mother Leaves Her Child Behind While Shoplifting

COLUMBUS (Maria Durant) -- Clinton Township Police plan to charge a woman with child endangering after police say the woman was caught trying to shoplift.

Lt. Anthony Pfeifer says Tylena Hayes was trying to hide clothes in her son's stroller.

Pfeifer says Hayes was at the Old Navy store on Olentangy River Road with her two month old son and some friends.

Police say a loss prevention officer recognized Hayes because just last week she was caught shoplifting at the Polaris Old Navy store.

The officer approached Hayes and police say she started to argue with the officer and left the store.

Lt. Pfeifer says Hayes left her baby boy behind in the store.

Hayes was arrested by OSU police near the Railroad tracks along Kinnear Road.

Police say she will be charged with Child Endangering, Criminal Trespassing and shoplifting.
