Man Arrested After 2 Garage Break-Ins

COLUMBUS (Kellie Hanna) Columbus police have arrested a man after two garages in West Columbus were broken into early Monday morning.

Bob Vantilburg who lives in the Holly Hill neighborhood says he left his car doors unlocked, and his garage door opener was on the visor.

Some typical items such as tools were taken but then Vantilburg realized there was food taken from the freezer in the garage: his son's chicken nuggets and corn dog.

Bob Vantilburg says "He was a little hungry, man.  He got my chicken nuggets, my kids' chicken nuggets, corn dogs out of the freezer in the garage.  Everybody's gotta eat."

Vantilburg says he realized his garage door was open when a bucket was in the way of it closing and he also noticed some movement in his parents garage right next door.

That's when he called police.  Police responded immediately and were able to catch the suspect, the SUV he allegedly stole, and items that had been reported stolen inside the SUV including the frozen food.

Thomas Jones is charged with breaking and entering.  Police will be looking into whether or not he is connected to any other burglaries.
