2 Fires Break Out on E. 25th St
COLUMBUS (Kellie Hanna) -- Arson investigators are looking into two fires that broke out overnight on the same street.
The first call came in about a fire in a vacant home at 1504 E. 25th Street in Northeast Columbus just before 1 a.m.
Originally neighbors said they heard gunshots coming from the home, but that was not the case.
The fire chief on the scene said the smell was "really bad."
The home had been vacant for 3-4 months and there was no gas or electric running to the home.
Fire fighters had to break down the front door to put the fire out.
The second call came in about two hours later, just after 3 a.m, on a report of a fire at 1517 E. 25th Street.
This home is across the street from the vacant house fire.
The homeowner said they found a Molotov cocktail, a beer bottle filled with gas, in the front of the home.
That homeowner was able to put the fire out before firefighters got there.
Investigators are looking into both fires to see if they are connected and if they might be arson.
