Firefighter Pleads Guilty to OVI

DELAWARE (Kellie Hanna) -- A Delaware County firefighter faced a judge after being caught driving drunk Friday night.

Jason Brockmeyer, 36, reportedly hit several mailboxes, a utility pole, and fled the scene Friday night.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol caught up to him at a friend's house who first denied Brockmeyer was there.

He pleaded guilty in court Wednesday to operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

He also faced charges of child endangerment, but that was dropped as part of his plea deal.

His 7-year-old daughter did suffer minor injuries but Brockmeyer treated her since he is also a registered EMT.

He'll take a three day class instead of going to jail for three days.

There's no word on whether or not he will keep his job as Franking Township firefighter.  He has been on suspension since the incident happened Friday.
